Main responsibilities
This is a great opportunity to work with industry-leading experts, who understand there's more to email design and development than converting offline to online. You'll be creating code that's clean, compliant and follows industry best practice, and building fully responsive emails that render across multiple email clients and devices.

As part of our busy Digital team you'll contribute to campaigns and projects that support the wider Commercial department. Cross-team working will become part of your routine. You'll work with colleagues from technical and non-technical backgrounds who are friendly, supportive and keen to help you learn about the business and show you how your roles connect.

Although most days you'll be immersed in email, you'll be contributing in other areas too. Some days you'll be presenting work, and others you'll be working with colleagues to measure the success and impact of our emails to ensure our objectives are met.

Market conditions change quickly in financial services, so be prepared to react to adhoc requirements that need a quick turnaround. And you'll have your finger on the pulse of all things email, knowing what's hot and what's not, keeping up with emerging trends.
Ideal candidate
Technical skills are a must for this role, but curiosity's essential too. You'll be interested in the what, the why and the how, with the ability to strike a balance between what's realistic and achievable.

Ideally you'll understand the restrictions associated with financial services - recognising when it's time to be creative and when it's time to hold back. You won't be afraid to talk or challenge, and you'll be good at listening too.

Experience as an email developer, front-end client-side developer, digital developer or web designer or similar technical role is a pre-requisite for this role. Other essentials include:

* UI design techniques, industry best practice and standards
* Understanding of web technologies used for the development and testing of emails
* HTML 4 and 5, XHTML, CSS2 and 3
* Testing techniques, frameworks and tools
* Proficient use of Photoshop or similar software to create optimised digital assets and prototypes
* Attention to detail
