For a Dyson engineer, breaking the rules is part of the job. It's what makes our products different. But the next great Dyson idea can't change the world from a lab. To ensure our machines can be sold, there are some rules we need to stick to. From reviewing initial concepts to testing final components in our accredited test laboratories, our Compliance and Approvals team is a critical voice during the design phase. By making sure Dyson product are never kept off the shelf by global standards and legislation, we play vital role in supporting the growth of Dyson.

Responsibilities

You will advise and educate Dyson's NPI and Research teams to ensure that IOT connected technologies, machine learning and AI capabilities developed by Dyson are 'compliant by design'. This role is focussed on location data and vision systems including; geolocation data, proximity data, s urveillance capability and camera / audio/ video capability

  • Support the maintenance of the global 'market readiness matrix' that documents requirements affecting data collected by IOT connected products (and associated App technology) in all countries where Dyson directs sales
  • Educate, influence and support key RDD stakeholders to ensure their awareness of these requirements
  • Work with product innovation and development teams to ensure that requirements are embedded into product specification and subject to product development governance processes
  • Validate design and specification throughout product development lifecycle
  • Support RDD stakeholders to identify solutions where a legal constraint limits collection or transmission of data
  • Validate existing privacy policies against compliance requirements in all relevant markets
  • Create risk analysis highlighting risk or issues inherent in the technology or peculiar to a country or territory that could result in restrictions or limitation affecting the sale of products (e.g. data localisation, counter-surveillance)
  • Support Commercial teams with privacy and information compliance information to support product launches
  • Produce information to support consumer facing teams during the launch of connected products (specifically relating to privacy and information compliance)
  • Validate data sharing and transfer agreements when working with third parties in the design, development and launch of connected products and associated App technology
  • Support impact assessment of through life variation to the collection, transmission and use of connected data (resulting from software change/release)
  • Support the management of a privacy/data breach affecting connected products
