SEN Teaching Assistant required to work in a Nurture Room with various ages on a long term basis

Your new company
This Coventry based school was rated as 'OUTSTANDING' in their last Ofsted report where it was commented that the Head Teacher's leadership is very strong. This has successfully transformed the school and driven improvements in the quality of teaching resulting in higher pupil achievement. It was also stated in the report in regards to the Nurture Room itself that Disadvantaged pupils, disabled pupils and those who have special educational needs are making the same outstanding progress as that of their classmates. This Coventry school leads by example and has a welcoming and inclusive nature which enhances the academic lives of the pupils who attended.

Your new role
You will be required to work on your own initiative in a room solely dedicated to 6 pupils with various Special Educational Needs. The pupils are of varying ages across the school and of varying ability, so there will be a range of activities you will need to deliver as well as keeping the pupils concentration on the task at hand. Other duties include setting up and tiding away the room as this is the pupils main teaching area. You will be accompanied by a lead Teaching Assistant and on occasion a 3rd Teaching Assistant.

What you'll need to succeed
It is required that you have sufficient knowledge of a range of interventions to use daily and have the confidence to deliver these on a 1:1 and group basis. You will need to be resilient and be able to adapt to constantly changing situations as well as react accordingly and in line with professional standards when pupils may become agitated or restless. You will need to be a positive role model for all pupils and always conduct yourself in a professional manner as well as showing a passion for working with children.

What you'll get in return
You will be part of a well-established academic environment where all members of staff lead the way in excellent standards of teaching and behaviour management. Being a part of Hays you will be supported by an expert consultant in their field helping you find the right job for you either on a supply, long term or permanent basis. We offer free CPD training and help with CV writing, you will also receive your wages on a weekly basis. If you are interested please call Charlotte Toon on 02476 092023.
