Management Accountant

As Novacroft’s permanent and full-time Management Accountant, you’ll work under the direction of our Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to manage and supervise all of our financial accounting, controlling and reporting activities as per regulatory and legal requirements, including annual reports and accounts.

You’ll need to have an analytical mind, to work with precision and to have a keen eye for detail.

What you’ll do

Being the leader of our finance team (with line management responsibility for two team members) will mean that you’ll be responsible for:

Preparing a monthly management report

Preparing and reviewing departmental accounts with budget owners on a monthly basis

Preparing profit and loss statements and monthly accounting reports including actual against budget; preparing variance analysis and supporting commentary and, where appropriate, action programme

Preparing annual budgets, working with department heads

Monitoring and analysing monthly operating results against budget and offering suggested improvements that will impact on Novacroft’s financial performance

Establishing, maintaining and co-ordinating the implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures

Managing Novacroft’s payroll, PAYE compliance and preparing annual P11D’s

Ensuring VAT compliance

Resolving accounting discrepancies

Recommending, developing and maintaining financial databases and filing systems

Overseeing the input and handling of financial data and reports for the company’s automated financial systems

Overseeing the daily operations of the Finance Assistant and Reconciliation Lead

Liaising with external bodies for financial matters, including banks and auditors

Managing material requirements planning

Preparing financial analysis for the sales team for contract and tender negotiations

Managing the reconciliation of client accounts

Maintaining the asset database

Qualifications and experience

To apply for this role, it’s essential that you have:

AAT qualification

Experience of effective management reporting techniques including actuals, budgeting and re-forecasting

Experience of general ledgers and MI databases

Experience of managing a team

Desirable: ACCA / CIMA
