Software QA Tester - Web, API, UI Testing, .NET, ISEB

Birmingham (central and close to all major transport links)

£30,000 pa to £35,000 pa + Benefits

Leading distribution organisation specialist in supplying tailored package routing solutions for well known household name customers requires experienced Software QA testers. This is an exciting time to join this company and take part in QA work on major system re-writes as they strive to become become recognised as the European market leader for e-fulfilment and multi-channel return services.

Required Skills and Experience:

A solid commercial background in the testing od Windows and Web based .NET software systems

Solid UAT and Regression testing experience

Any API , UI , Load and/or Stress Testing experience of interest

Ability to set up automation of testing, or use of Selenium or similar of interest

ISEB / ISTQB Certification preferred

The Role:

To help co-ordinate and perform testing for all significant changes to bespoke systems with the objective of minimising the risk to those systems. My client is looking for experienced testers to come in and setup/establish best practice testing discipline within our company, which is part way towards an agile model.

They are using JIRA for case management and have TFS available for source control/test scripts.

Automation is key as they have many environment with complicated setups that need to be tested quickly and efficiently - any Selenium or similar of interest

Automated UI and API testing will be a core component of the role as the product will be introducing more and more APIs, many of which will be contractually bound to SLAs on performance.

General Responsibilities:

To work with the IT Development Team to define and document the testing procedures for of the all bespoke company systems. The testing procedures should aim to lower the risk that changes to these systems will adversely affect their operation.

To work with the IT Development Team, end users and other stakeholders to co-ordinate and execute user acceptance testing (UAT)

Create technical test scripts based on functional and technical specifications drawn up by the developers. Work with the individual developer to ensure that these scripts work to lower the risk of the change being developed.

Execute tests and record their results in a clearly standard fashion.

Communicate the results of these tests to the relevant developer and to work to resolve any issues prior to the software's release into production.

Brief selected users and/or other designated project personnel prior to UAT so that they are well prepared for the tests.

Supervise and assist UAT, verify and analyse the results of UAT, report on the progress and results of testing to IT Developers

Ensure that stakeholder's sign-off each development following UAT

Test Environment and Test Data work

Maintaining a testing calendar that documents testing schedules and system and data requirements for individual tests

Work with the IT Development Team to ensure that testing activities occur in line with development schedule

Ensure regular communication to the Development Manager and as appropriate other Senior I.T. staff

Any exposure to warehousing, transport and or distribution type systems of interest - but not essential.
