Historic Environment Scotland are the lead body for Scotland’s historic environment; a charity dedicated to the advancement of heritage, culture, education and environmental protection. We are at the forefront of researching and understanding the historic environment, and addressing the impact of climate change on its future. We investigate and record architectural and archaeological sites and landscapes across Scotland and care for more than 300 properties of national importance. The Head of Finance will be directly responsible to the Director of Finance. You will have a key strategic role, working closely with senior managers providing value to Historic Environment Scotland through the provision of sound financial governance, financial accounting services and financial transactions services. You will provide leadership, management and direction within the Finance Unit, with line management responsibilities for 29 staff, and will take a proactive role in supporting the effective performance of the Financial Operations Team. HES Finance Vision: • Promote and deliver good financial management • Influence effective decision making • Support effective governance • Lead and direct a proportionate finance function Highly motivated with excellent technical and people skills, you will have significant experience at a senior level.
