Our client is a very successful, best in class, commodity trading house with overseas operations across the globe.

An opportunity has arisen for a Commodities Accountant to join the London finance team. This is an exciting opportunity which offers a broad spectrum of management reporting and operational activities in addition to exposure to a fast paced international environment.


Reporting into the Commodities Accounting Lead, this is a diverse role with responsibility for all aspects of finance including preparation of month end, management reporting and providing analysis to senior management. You will be influential in streamlining and implementing systems and processes to help with the successful, fast growth of the business. As the business grows you will be involved in an array of projects that are influential to strategic decision making. There will be periodic travel abroad to the Switzerland head office.


- Manage the day to day activities for a designated profit centre, including review & posting of sale and purchase invoices to ensure accurate revenue and purchase recognition
- Responsible for the daily and monthly broker account postings and reconciliations, including weekly broker cash transfers.
- Preparation and analysis of monthly management reports and commentaries on a timely basis for one of the profit centres.
- Review and analysis of balance sheet, including inventory, accruals & capital usage.
- Responsible for the monthly intercompany reconciliations and confirmations across all profit centres includes liaising with origin offices.
- Involvement to finalise consolidation package, including inputting intercompany balances, forward books & quantities.
- Create & review annual budget for one of the profit centres.
- Preparation of the weekly debtor balances across all profit centres of which will be presented on a rotational basis by members of the finance department.
- Involvement in the annual statutory audits.


This role will suit a focused self-starter with a high attention to detail and analytical thought process. Time management and prioritising workload will be critical to the success of this role. Team working skills and ability to own tasks is a must.

This role is ideally suited to a part qualified accountant (1-2 industry experience preferred) with strong accounting skills and experience working in a similar structure. Commodities would be an advantage but is not essential. Exposure working in an international organisation would be an advantage.

Excellent system knowledge including Excel is essential as there will be a high level of data manipulation to produce reports. Knowledge of Navision, Cognos and SAP would also be an advantage.
