Key Responsibilities: Owns, is responsible for and acts as the guardian of thetechnology/platform solution architecture for the projects they havebeen assigned to; Works with the relevant stakeholders to realise the requirements of thebusiness, defining the most appropriate solution and the means andmethods to implement it, whilst remaining legally compliant and applyingbest-practice in the solution design; Working with appropriate specialists ensures solutions meet therigorous security standards and policies set by the charity; Takes a leadership role in the design of integrations between solutionsto ensure that data integrity is preserved; Supports the development of design standards and provides input intoall development and deployment processes to improve the quality ofarchitecture and design work at the charity; Continuously works to develop their own expertise and knowledge andshares it with others. Expertise Able to define and communicate appropriate end to endtechnology/platform solutions; Has a developed understanding of what the charity is trying to achieveand helps the business to meet and exceed its requirements to enablethose ambitions.; Understands how to document and communicate Reference Architectures. Leadership & Impact: Works autonomously, managing day to day workload and priorities anddriving change; Acts as a role model, setting high professional standards forperformance and behaviour; Understands and communicates complex information and concepts totechnical and business colleagues, influencing others effectively; Builds internal networks for collaboration and knowledge sharing to aidcurrent and future performance; Demonstrates a good understanding of the charity's strategy and how itimpacts and influences plans, priorities and contributes to developingfunctional strategy in their broader team; Draws upon own expertise to make recommendations, provide specialistadvice to colleagues and inform decisions that may impact the team andthe wider charity; Identifies and capitalises on opportunities for continuous improvement,encouraging others to do the same to enable innovative improvements tobe made for the benefit of the charity; Steers own development and career, creating stretching objectives andseeking learning opportunities within the charity and beyond; Work with the broader CRUK Architecture community to develop thepractice of Enterprise and Solutions Architecture and the deliverables. Resource Management: Contributes expertise to relevant projects where required. Articulatescase for change and builds strong stakeholder support, creatingconsensus around outcomes, timelines and milestones; Takes personal responsibility for keeping the Charitys costs down,proactively managing resources and materials within own area; has arigorous focus on Total Cost of Ownership. During Initial Phase of Projects: Works with Business Partners, Product Managers, Business Analysts,Enterprise Architect and other technical subject matter experts todefine high level Solution Options and come up with a recommendedConceptual Architecture for presentation to the Technical Design Authority; Ensures that the Business Requirements are of just sufficient detail,in particular the non-functional, that options can be expressed and costestimates for the delivery of solutions created; Makes sure that the issues that may drive cost or complexity up areidentified shared; Validates that solutions put forward are in line with the agreedTechnology Strategy and where not that appropriate waivers are sought. During Design and Development Working with stakeholders elaborates the agreed solution to a levelappropriate from which Solution Designers and Leads can develop thedetail; present this to the TDA for sign off; Support any COTS product selection; Supervises the technical implementation of the architecture and act asa point of escalation for architectural issues; Brings significant deviations back to the TDA for approval or waiver. Key Technical Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Behaviours Broad experience of creating conceptual and logical solutionarchitectures which cover both applications and infrastructure components; Excellent verbal and written communications skills, the ability tobring solutions alive for both technical and non-technical audiences; An ability to deal with ambiguity and reconcile conflictingrequirements across internal and external stakeholders; Experience of/familiarity with some key technologies in use at CancerResearch which include: Infrastructure VMware Citrix VDI (XenDesktop) Microsoft AppV Windows Server Windows Desktop (7 & 10) Linux (Ubuntu / Red Hat) EMC Storage Amazon Web Services & Microsoft Azure NginX Dev Ops, Ansible, Docker etc. Oracle Database Microsoft SQL Server Back/Mid Office & Integration Microsoft Office 365 Oracle Siebel Microsoft Dynamics CRM Tibco BusinessWorks / ESB Informatica Microsoft SSIS, SSAS, PowerBI Microsoft SharePoint UNIT 4 BusinessWorld (Finance) Workday (HR) ServiceNow Digital & Solutions Development Drupal Content Management Drupal Commerce MySQL Postgres MongoDB PHP, Java, Go, C#.NET, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript Amazon Web Services inc API Gateway Microsoft Azure A solid understanding of integration patterns, IT security concepts andService and Micro Service orientated architectures; Awareness of Frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachmann and IAF and how toutilise them; Curiosity and a passion to develop & share knowledge and experience; Ability to quickly adapt to changes in business and technologyrequirements and needs; Experience working with and managing the work of third parties such.
