The Team

This role is part of the Group's dedicated reinsurance market finance team, responsible for all financial reporting relating to Aviva International Insurance Limited (AII).

All is a substantial captive insurer, with over £50bn of assets, writing both Life and GI business. You will play a pivotal role in the success of Aviva, supporting the business to achieve targeted financial returns and maintaining the confidence of our shareholders and regulators.

Key Responsibilities:

The primary purpose of the role will be to ensure that the performance of the GI treaties that AII has with its cedants is optimised and that the obligations of the treaties are met.

This will include understanding how our GI treaties work and the economic capital results of each of them. You will also use you knowledge of the cedants to help identify and assess possible business development opportunities.

You'll be working in a small team within the AII Capital and Actuarial Markets team, liaising with specialist teams within AFO. As the subject matter within AFM, your work will include, but is not limited to, the following:
*Providing timely analysis and insight of the underlying economic capital results of each of our GI treaties on the AII balance sheet,
*Having an in-depth close working knowledge of each treaty
*Be able to understand and assess the impact of any potential actions carried out by the cedants on both the AII and the overall group position.
*Helping identify and assess possible business development opportunities.
*Supporting the optimisation of the AII balance sheet through understanding the impact of existing treaties

You

We're looking for a qualified actuary with considerable demonstrable post-qualified experience, ideally gained within a general insurance company environment. You will have a strong mix of relationship management, communication and technical actuarial skills. You will have experience of working on both internal model and standard formula companies.

You will be able to understand and interpret large amounts of data and narrative, and summarise it into succinct, meaningful and insightful commentary. You will have a proven record of delivering to time and quality, and experience of stakeholder management across a range of disciplines and seniority levels. This is hugely dynamic role, and while you will need to be comfortable with dealing with a broad spectrum of responsibilities and tasks, it will provide you with a diverse range of development opportunities and a strong position to progress their career within Aviva.
