Teaching Assistants - Alternative Provision

  • London Borough of Ealing
  • Secondary Alternative Provision
  • Good Ofsted
  • January Start
  • Long Term position until end of year

I am looking for a teaching assistant to join an alternate provision unit in the heart of Ealing to work with Key Stage 3 and 4 students. Most students at this school have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties, with some having other moderate learning difficulties and have been rejected from mainstream education. The school is easily accessible by public transport and is located within a few minutes walk from multiple stations. The new 'state of the art' school building holds a large gym/assembly hall, art, counselling and therapy room and a science lab.

This school is a 'good' school with the students behaviour recently having been assessed by Ofsted as 'Outstanding'. Although students at this school enter with below average attainment levels, a large number of KS3 students are successfully returning to mainstream education.

The school is looking for someone with excellent behaviour management skills and who is able to act as a role model for these young adults. Experience in dealing with students with challenging behaviour is a bonus and you would need to be able to maintain excellent communication with parents, teachers and support staff (counsellors and mentors).

Although the position is for a long term teaching assistant, the school are looking for someone they can keep on permanently.
