A top 20 law firm is seeking to recruit a Senior Paralegal to join the Real Estate team based in Manchester to assist with a general residential property caseload, particularly focusing on plot sales.

Our specialist Plot Sales team have the ability and resource to provide a timely, cost effective and tailored approach to managing all aspects of a development. We specialise in acting for developers who are selling housing units within a development and pride ourselves on providing an efficient service to our clients who include Peel Holdings/Peel Media Ltd, Primus Property Group, Elan Homes Ltd, Ladson Commercial Ltd and numerous local developers.

We are seeking applications from candidates who have gained strong academics at degree level and above and/or relevant residential property experience gained from a similar commercial law firm environment. We will consider candidates who have completed the LPC.

We are seeking a candidate who can demonstrate a real interest in residential property, who is a team player, in addition to being confident working within a commercial environment, with strong communication skills and attention to detail.

Main function of job: To progress cases, or particular aspects of cases, under supervision, to an effective and satisfactory conclusion for clients.


Responsible to: Direct Supervisor / Supervising Partner
Liaison with: Employees at all levels within DWF and clients.

Main Duties:

Providing legal back up to the Real Estate team, carrying out the tasks referred to below.
Be aware of Law Society requirements for conveyancing and accounts.
Be capable of producing own documents and letters.
Action all cases in line with practice group/client service standards and protocols.
Use of standard documentation and regular use of the Case Management system.
Proactively progress/assist in the conclusion of transactions to the satisfaction of the client whilst further developing legal technical knowledge.
Analyse risk and develop sound judgement to justify decisions in the management of transactions.
Prioritise work efficiently and effectively to ensure client service level agreements, expectations and deadlines are met.
Understand the role in the context of the practice group and proactively seek to increase contribution via the allocation of work.
Work flexibly in adjusting to changes in priority of workload as dictated by the practice group.
To prepare the contract pack for a variety of clients including residential developers and housing associations following the set procedure on case management (to include, preparing the contract, transfer or lease, enquiries before contract/property information sheet, replies to requisitions, applying for official copies and copy title documents (as necessary), photocopying all relevant documents, preparing the initial letter to the buyer’s solicitor etc.).
Amending documents when requested by fee earners in the team.
Proof reading
Assisting with chasing telephone calls and faxes to ensure that sales are pushed through to completion as quickly as possible.
Using the Case Management System to follow the transaction from instruction to completion (with supervision from more senior members where necessary), to include preparing standard letters and answering standard correspondence.
Liaising with the client, agents, purchaser’s solicitors and third parties regarding the sale.
Reviewing title information and assisting in preparing title reports
To diarise tasks, including all exchanges, completions, return of documents, reminders to chase etc.
To assist the team with other general administrative tasks where necessary.
