I am currently working with a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Greenwich who are seeking to appoint a learning support assistant to support students who have recently been excluded from mainstream school. The role of a learning support assistant will be to provide additional support for students with EHCPs in regards to their academic ability and social and emotional skills. Learning support assistants should be able to build strong relationships with all students and be able to communicate effectively with students and other staff members. You will be supported by the class teacher and SENCO and they have high expectations in terms of student's behavior and academic achievement.
The ideal candidate for this learning support assistant role will have:
- Experience supporting challenging behaviour
- 1:1 in mainstream or SEN
- Team Teach (desirable)
- Strong National Curriculum knowledge
- At least 1 years' experience working in a mainstream or SEN school in the UK
This PRU caters for primary and secondary aged students across 4 different sites and aim to provide achievement and enjoyment through learning by aiming to give each student an inclusive and personalised education to suit the needs of the learner. There is also career progression opportunities as they run training for staff to become SALTs or OTs.
