Role: Howdens Academy Apprentice – Trade Business Services
Duration: 12 months, with the opportunity for a further 2-year development programme
Starting Salary: £10,000/annum

There are currently over 620 depots nationwide, so it’s likely they are local to you. The company specialises in kitchens and they supply over 350,000 kitchens each year. In light of this, they have shown growth over the years and are currently in the top 150 companies in the UK. The vision of the business is to develop an additional 200 depots nationwide in the next few years.
Role Summary & PurposeThe Howdens Academy Apprentice will undertake the Level 2 Trade Business Services qualification, in conjunction with The Real Apprenticeship Company.Skills will be developed through a structured programme to learn how to contribute to the smooth running of the Depot through a variety of roles.
Tasks will include administration, customer recruitment and management, lead generation, selling the company’s range of products, warehouse and stock management, whilst ensuring compliance with Health & Safety Regulations, and supporting other colleagues where appropriate.Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities1. Provide potential and existing customers with the highest level of service, by dealing with enquiries in a professional and knowledgeable manner, ensuring repeat business.2. Effectively communicate with customers face to face and via telephone, email and SMS, to deal with incoming queries as well as outgoing promotion, whilst generating leads and enhancing sales potential.3. Actively promote products and services to potential customers with the aim of increasing the account base; encourage and participate in effective account management using the tools and reports available in Depot.4. Develop and maintain an excellent level of product knowledge, to aid the promotion, communication, quoting and selling of the company’s range of products, in order to achieve and exceed Depot sales and product targets.5. Maintain accurate records of contact made and leads generated, so that progress can be measured and relationships developed with potential and existing customers. Leads to be provided to relevant colleagues, for them to continue to develop the trade account base and generate sales.6. Ensure stock accuracy by unloading and checking supplier deliveries, carrying out security checks on outgoing orders, undertaking line checks, whilst complying with company policy regarding damage controls, and maintaining general housekeeping standards in line with company expectations.7. Attend training course(s) to understand company systems and processes in order to accurately create quotes and process sales, as well as how to undertake depot procedures including reconciling and filing paperwork, generating reports, banking, and other administrative tasks.8. Participate as an effective and willing team member to achieve individual and team goals, and assist with any other reasonable request in order to fulfil the requirements of the business and smooth operation of the Depot.9. Ensure compliance with Health and Safety Regulations to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for customers and employees, within the store, offices and warehouse.
Role Dimensions52 week fixed term programme with the potential for a total 3 year programme; including up to 18 months supported learning from The Real Apprenticeship Company.Reporting to Depot Manager, with additional support from Depot Staff and the Training & Development team.Opportunity to be considered for the Kitchen Sales Designer route upon successful completion of Trade Business Framework and 12 month fixed term.

Qualification· Completion of compulsory education· Literate with good written communication skills and GCSE grade A*-C in English· Good numeracy with GCSE grade A*-C in Mathematics
Wage£10,000 per annum, paid monthly.
Working Week40 hours (Monday- Friday 08:00-17:00).
Candidates must have a valid passport or birth certificate, a national insurance number and their own bank account.This is an apprenticeship vacancy, with Government funding available to those aged 16-24.
