Job Title: Qualified Accountant ACA or ACCA

Location: Crosby, Merseyside

Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Salary: £30K - £40K (negotiable dependent on experience)

Reports to: Director

We are looking for an experienced senior accountant to join this established practice of Chartered Accountants to service its growing client base. We have an excellent reputation in the local area, offering professional accounting and advisory services to a wide range of businesses, from Sole Traders to Partnerships and Limited Companies. We offer a pleasant working environment where you will be part of a friendly and sociable team.

This role would suit someone with at least five years’ practical experience as a qualified accountant who can cover all the traditional compliance services such as accounts, tax and audit, as well as supervising junior team members.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Accounts production to final review stage prior to sending to clients
  • VAT Returns
  • Tax Planning
  • Filing tax returns and accounts online
  • Liaising closely with the Director
  • Delegating work to junior members of staff
  • Client meetings
  • Attending business networking events when required
  • Liaising with clients directly
  • Dealing with correspondence and writing letters and other documents as required

Qualifications Required: Qualifications Required:

  • Second class honours degree or above in related subject (however relevant experience within public practice will be considered)
  • ACA/ACCA/ qualified

Education, Qualifications and Vocational Training Vocational Training - Fully qualified ACA/ACCA - Should have an entrepreneurial flair and be experienced at implementing changes in working practices

Relevant Experience - Breadth of practical accounting experience - Have robust technical accounting skills - Should have already worked in a similar role and can demonstrate a proven track record of managing a dynamic, growing business in a compliance-led environment - Be a self-starter who has managed and motivated staff and has a ‘can do’ attitude

Knowledge and Skills - Strong verbal and written communication skills - Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office software packages, including Word, Excel, Internet Explorer and Outlook - Sound knowledge of accounting packages including Sage Line 50 - Knowledge of small company accounts preparation, practice management systems and accounting packages e.g. Sage and Xero Accounting software - Good technical accounting knowledge - Up to date knowledge of the changes to the Company Law legislation and MTD - Experience of dealing with payroll - Knowledge of Digita, IRIS and QuickBooks accounting packages *Heriot Hughes operates through the IRIS suite of accounting packages and a good working knowledge of this would be an advantage, however not compulsory.
