A Year 2 teacher is required to deliver fun, engaging and challenging lessons to an enthusiastic class.

Your new school
Your new school is an average sized primary school on the outskirts of Wigan. The school has recently been graded 'Good' by OFSTED and is now ambitious to become outstanding during their next inspection. They aim to do this through investment in staff CPD and keeping on top of new and innovative teaching methods. The school takes extra curricular activities seriously and has a range of opportunities for pupils to develop away from National Curriculum subjects.

Your new role
Your new role will involve providing suitable and challenging learning opportunities for pupils to make as much progress as possible. You will be responsible for the allocation of a TA within your class to make maximum impact on pupils learning. As a result of this, you will need to gain a good understanding of your class from an early stage of your time at the school. As well as a focus on Maths and English, you will be responsible for teaching all aspects of the National Curriculum and where possible, making links between all subjects to increase the relevancy to pupils.

What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you will be a qualified teacher or newly qualified teacher with relevant, specific experience of teaching a Year 2 class. An excellent knowledge of phonics teaching is required as this will form a large part of the curriculum and learning should build on what they have learnt in Year 1. Due to the nature of the class, you should be able to differentiate effectively to ensure all pupils make progress and are fully engaged during lessons. Your ability to build a rapport with pupils is important to make sure pupils feel comfortable whilst learning and can settle to tasks quickly.

What you'll get in return
In return, you will be joining a supportive team of staff who value the benefit of teamwork within a school. You will also have the chance to be involved in the school's CPD programme which will develop you as a teacher past this role. You will also have the support of a dedicated Hays consultant who will be on hand to support you whilst working at this school and beyond as you look for your ideal role.
