Lead Teacher of Science (Chemistry)

Hays Education are currently working exclusively on behalf of a Birmingham secondary school based in Erdington to assist in recruiting a Lead Teacher of Science (Chemistry) for a permanent vacancy. This is a full time teaching role up to KS5 and will be paid to the national teacher scale. The role is due to start in January 2018.

Your new school
This is a seven form entry mixed comprehensive school based on the border of Erdington and Sutton Coldfield. They have strong links with their feeder primary catholic and local community schools to ensure that there is a smooth transition between primary and secondary education which understandably can be very challenging for some students and parents. The school has just over 1000 students in the school including the Sixth Form. The school places great emphasis on academic excellence to ensure that students of all abilities and social backgrounds achieve their full potential and they regularly send students to Universities all over the country as well as placing great emphasis on personal development.

The school has high expectations for all staff and is committed to providing outstanding teaching and learning. The Senior Leadership team feel that the key to their success of their school has been built on the hard work, dedication and commitment of all members of staff and students and the very strong parental support to order to ensure that together every student achieves more. The school is a founder member of the Catholic Partnership in Birmingham, a member of the Teaching School Alliance (which is committed to providing outstanding teacher training and support) and part of the North Area Network. This ensures that they remain strong partners within the education community and helps to underpin the schools desire to move forward on their journey to excellence for all.

Your new role
In your new secondary teaching job you will be responsible for teaching and learning alongside the standard responsibilities of a Lead Teacher. You will need to be experienced teaching up to KS5 and ideally have a Chemistry specialism. If you aspire to be a Lead Teacher this could be the perfect opportunity for you. The role is offered on a full time, permanent basis and is due to start from January 2018. Due to the nature of the role it is offered as a 'paid to scale' post (MPS/UPS). This role is suitable for experienced candidates only.

What you'll need to succeed in your application
To be successful in your application you will have completed your studies and hold UK QTS. You will be an experienced Science (Chemistry) teacher that is passionate about student progress and is committed to helping pupils to achieve their academic potential. The ideal candidate would have been in a long term or permanent teaching role as a Lead Teacher or have completed similar responsibilities and will be able to supply Hays with outstanding references from the previous employer.
