We are seeking an immediately available administration temp, preferably with experience within the Higher Education sector- student services department, this is a long-term assignment which will run to the end of December and may possibly extend to January

Temping at the heart of this London based University you will be based on the Welcome Desk within the Student Services Department, this is a critical student-facing position dealing with the needs of the Welcome Desk visitors to deal calmly and confidently with a range of queries and questions and use your experience and common sense to problem solve and improve clerical processes and procedures. Working independently, Patience, flexibility, common sense and a high standard of literacy are qualities we are looking for in prospective candidates. The Student Services Assistant will provide administrative support to services, events and initiatives designed to enhance the student experience and work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Key responsibilities

    To provide a friendly and polite first point of contact for students, visitors and other customers at the Welcome Desk.Develop a solid understanding of cross-campus departments and staff functions to correctly refer enquiries in a helpful and positive manner.Use excellent communication skills to convey important news and information to the student body using posters, social media, email and newsletters and act as the central point of phone contact for student enquiries.Allocate student lockers and administrate the taking and returning of cash deposits. · Maintain the student noticeboard with up-to-date and relevant information.Maintain accurate records and information for students using the MS Office suite, the CRM system, Salesforce, the cloud storage software, Box and the VLE, Blackboard and create and issue student status letters as required.Undertake a range of clerical tasks including photocopying, scanning, filing and data entry and Process stationery orders.Take responsibility for the appearance and functionality of the Student Services Welcome Desk.Supervise the Student Oyster Card application process for eligible students.Apply sensitivity and discretion when dealing with confidential information and confidently refer more complex issues to specialist staff.
