You will be working for a small, charity-run independent school that is set over 3 bases. With access to a large lake and a forest school spanning over 3 acres, this SEN setting describes itself a 'school with therapy'. You will be working with a hugely friendly and close knit team, who are willing to provide training and support to help progress your career within education.
Your new role
To support students with high levels of SEN, all of which hold an EHCP (Education Health and Care Plan). Working in tandem with the team to help students with their social, emotional and behavioural needs. With the teacher's guidance you will deliver personalised lessons and support to help students progress with their education and coursework. Also assisting students with their daily learning outside the classroom sessions, including pottery and forest school. Pupil age ranges from 8-18 and they have needs including ASD, severe learning and behavioural difficulties
What you'll need to succeed
Previous experience and success within an SEN setting. Relevant training and strategies to provide the best outcomes for students. A resilient and patient attitude, knowledge of understanding of student needs. Showing empathy but remaining firm when boundary setting.
