Marketing Officer: Digital and Communications

The Position

Reporting to the Director of Admissions and Marketing you will be primarily responsible for scheduling, writing and posting high quality copy and digital messaging to communicate the school’s marketing message and engage with the wider community through our website and on all social media platforms.
You will need to work very closely with the Marketing Officer (Design and Creative) but will also form part of a small dynamic team which are responsible for the admissions, marketing and events for the school. You will be required to work some evenings and weekends as part of this role.

Post-holder Attributes: Essential Criteria

The Marketing Officer must have proven ability for good digital copywriting appropriate to each platform and for the creation of accurate, compelling and persuasive copy appropriate for press and marketing generally.Knowledge and experience of using content Management Systems to update websites.Excellent Wordpress, IT and social media capabilities and experience of using social media scheduling systems such as Hootsuite.Knowledge of SEO, Google Analytics and HTML.High standard of written English, excellent proof reading skills and a strong eye for detail.Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage with people at all levels.Desirable criteria

Experience of marketing and social media in a school or institution is desirable.Experience of graphic design (some knowledge of Photoshop and InDesign would be useful).Email marketing experience.Experience of booking/negotiating media space.Personal attributes:

Flexibility and initiative within a small and busy team to support where there is most need.Willingness to take back-office and presentational front-of-house roles.Diligence about process and procedural tasks and an eye for detail.Ability to remain positive and resourceful under pressure and to prioritise the work-load.Ability to work independently and efficiently in order to meet Departmental goals.Discretion, confidentiality and sensitivity of Admission Team tasks which are housed in the same department.The Marketing Officer must be keen team player with a 'can do’ flexible approach.Responsibilities

Work with the Marketing Officer (Creative and Design) to constantly refresh, update and maintain the school website news, copy and data.Work with the Director of Admissions and Marketing to plan, schedule and post social media platform content and press stories.To provide full administrative support for all marketing functions to include: filing, budget administration, photocopying and all media plan correspondence.Work with the Director of Admissions and Marketing to proactively plan, edit and write content for core school communications to include weekly e-bulletin and 'Achieving’ Magazine and Admissions Publications.Assist with the planning, collation and production of on-line and printed promotional and advertising materials to include directories and membership profiles for the schoolEnsure all documents and content are produced to standards outlined in brand guidelines.Provide research and data analysis to the team upon request for various marketing projects.Contribute to the strategic thinking, research, planning and data analysis which underpin all the marketing and communications plans.Provide timely support and administrative assistance and planning for events with the wider team when required. This will require some evening and weekend work.Become an integral member of the Admissions and Marketing team: this may mean being asked to cover the work of other colleagues in their absence.The Marketing Officer (Digital and Communications) swill ideally be able to deputise on tasks performed by the Marketing Officer (Design and Creative) if the need arises.Contribute to the efficient and smooth-running of the School’s administration.Additional responsibilities

Become an integral member of the Admissions and Marketing team contributing to the efficient smooth running of the School.Lend assistance to other colleagues if the need arises to include attendance out of normal school hours to photograph and man events at weekends and evenings.Enjoy playing a full part as a member of a lively and busy teamThe above describes the general nature and level of work being performed by the individual hired into this job. Conditions of employment

The position is full time for 37.5 hours per week, 52 weeks a year.Exact hours will be agreed in advance with the Director but can be subject to change to cover the exigencies of the role.The position attracts six weeks paid holiday which it is expected will be taken during school holiday periods.Lunch is available free of charge when school is in session; time taken for the lunch break is unpaid. Tea and coffee is also available in the staff study, free of charge, throughout the day.There is a contributory stakeholder pension scheme, which the successful candidate will be eligible to join. Upon entry to the pension, entry will also be made into the 'Death in Service’ scheme.Details are available from the Finance Manager.Employees are eligible for reduced fees if their children attend the School.The position is subject to enhanced DBS certification and satisfactory references being obtainedThere will be a six month probationary period.
