Based in Nottingham, the role is the lead of the Group statutory reporting team with overall responsibility for all internal consolidated statutory reporting including the Group P&L, Balance Sheet and cashflow. The statutory reporting team will also assist divisional finance teams in ensuring Group policies have been adopted appropriately, assessing appropriate accounting treatments and supporting the Head of Statutory Reporting in the assessment of the quality of the divisional Balance Sheet control

Key Responsibilities

  • To manage the delivery of the Group consolidation of a £2.5bn turnover business with businesses across 8 different countries on a monthly and ad hoc basis, including providing detailed analysis of variances and absolute balances
  • Design and implementation of a new combined Group consolidation process rather than the two independent consolidations which are operated today
  • To manage delivery of quarterly consolidated reforecast/plan balance sheet and cashflow models including implementation of balance sheet forecasting in divisions
  • Responsible for the delivery of the half year and year end audits including the co-ordination of divisional audits, including those which are cross border
  • To co-ordinate and deliver the audit and sign off of the subsidiary statutory accounts (approx 150 entities) in conjunction with the Group financial accountant
  • Implementation of a new Group reporting framework that will see Group reporting packs delivered by divisional finance teams
  • Driving force behind the development and maintenance of a robust cash reporting model and forecasting tool (as Manager of the Group cash accountant)
  • Responsible for the co-ordination and execution of quarterly divisional balance sheet reviews assessing the application of Group policies, the quality of balance sheet reconciliations and the appropriateness of accounting treatments adopted
  • To continually drive improvements in the consolidation, audit and subsidiary accounts processes
  • To manage the Statutory Reporting team and the accuracy of their outputs, providing support, guidance and training where necessary
  • To be key point of contact for divisions on accounting guidance which will require strong working relationships with divisional financial controllers
  • Responding to ad hoc analysis requests from the Director of Financial Control

To be considered for this opportunity, you will be an exceptional candidate that has ideally trained in a top practice, who has moved into industry with some post-qualified experience in a large, complex business and have good FRS101 / 102 and IFRS knowledge. Very good candidates seeking their first move from practice, or have trained with ACCA through industry an gained relevant experience may also be considered. You will have advanced Excel skills, have great attention to detail, be highly organised and excellent time management skills. Your prioritisation and multi-tasking skills will be excellent, and you will display strong relationship building and interpersonal abilities. A passion for sports would be a huge plus to be successful in this role.
