University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust

HCL Permanent is currently working with University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust.

The University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust runs Bristol Royal Infirmary and Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, Bristol Eye Hospital, South Bristol Community Hospital, Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre, St Michael's Hospital and the University of Bristol Dental Hospital, in Bristol, England.

The hospital has over 9,000 staff who delivers over 100 different clinical services across nine different sites. With services from the neonatal intensive care unit to care of the elderly, they provide care to the people of Bristol and the South West from the very beginning of life to its later stages.

Patient care

Visiting hours at the Bristol Royal Infirmary and the Bristol Heart Institute have changed in response to feedback from patients and their families. The longer visiting session also gives families greater opportunity to raise any questions they have with doctors and nurses on the wards. Visiting hours are currently restricted due to the increase in the number of cases of diarrhoea and vomiting caused by viruses such as Norovirus in hospitals in this area and the local community.

The hospitals focus is unrelentingly on delivering best care and ensuring our patients' need are at the heart of all that they do. In order to lead and run a successful organisation, they also need to ensure that patient flow through the hospitals is efficient, that they deliver best value, that they build the capability of the staff members, and that they play a leading, partnership role in health and care delivery. Getting these things right enables them to improve the quality of the service and do the right thing for patients.

Committed to staff health and wellbeing

As part of the commitment to promoting, maintaining and improving the overall wellbeing of the staff, they offer occupational health, counselling and physiotherapy services. They also have a team of chaplains, providing pastoral and spiritual support to all staff, whatever their beliefs and views and quiet rooms are available in all the hospitals.

Also offer a number of other free, onsite initiatives to assist colleagues when they need it including, money advice from the Money Advice Service, smoking cessation support, telephone physiotherapy support (Physio Direct), working during pregnancy workshops, annual staff wellbeing week, staff forums (BAME, LGBT, LAWDII, SNAC, SMAG) and much more
