An exciting opportunity has arisen to join one of the finest and largest open-air museums in the country as an Assistant Accountant on an interim basis as maternity cover.

The Black Country Living Museum welcomes over 320,000 visitors per year to explore and discover three centuries of Black Country history. With circa 270 staff to bring the Museum to life, we are always keen to ensure that our visitors ?see, taste, feel, smell, hear and join in 300 years of Black Country history?.

We are seeking an Assistant Accountant to join our small finance team and work with the Head of Finance to maintain accurate accounting information, prepare the monthly payroll and management information and undertake the processing of financial transactions.

Key aspects of the role include:

? Producing the management accounts and information to enable the effective and efficient financial management of the trading company and assist with the preparation of the Museum Trust management accounts and information.

? Assisting with reporting to the Board of the trading company.

? Running period end reports and month end routines for the sales, purchase and nominal ledger, ensuring reports are reconciled to the nominal ledger and assisting with the posting of monthly journals

? Submitting and reviewing payroll data for hourly paid and salaried staff to the external payroll provider within agreed time scales.

The successful candidate will have experience of working in a similar role in an accounting/finance environment at the level described, as well as an excellent accurate, logical and methodical approach to work. They will also have the ability to pay close attention to detail, be able to work to deadlines and have experience of working under their own initiative. They must be numerate, IT literate with experience of accounting software. skilled at using spreadsheets (or proficient in the use of MS Excel?) and have excellent communication and organisational skills.

We are looking for an individual that can preferably start in December 2017 on a fixed term contact until July 2018 as a minimum.
