The main purpose of this role is to support the Design & Simulation theme, in particular the Business & Factory Optimisation team, with project-based creative problem solving, solution concepts, system design and optimisation.
The post holder is expected to apply knowledge and experience conducting discrete event simulation studies on real engineering problems to look at the effects on the complete business systems to ensure MTCs clients can achieve their broad ranging goals as they drive towards achieving manufacturing excellence.
The post hold is expected to conduct analysis to define and understand business problems and identify potential solutions and strategies to implement change.
The post holder is expected to support project delivery through completing assigned packages of work to a high quality and agreed costs and time-scales, deliver project governance through the creation and maintenance of project plans and status reports and manage project risk in line with MTCS? best practices.
Largely independent supply of project?s technical deliverables.
Provide technical leadership to others in areas of expertise.
Technical leadership of projects and / or work package portfolio >£100K.
Project management of project and / or work package portfolio >£100K.
Lead project proposal and business case writing for small and medium projects.
Lead technical liaison with customer during project delivery.
Lead engagement with existing customers to win repeat business.
Generation of new project ideas in alignment with the theme?s strategy.
Own career development through mentoring coaching and training courses.
Provide technical support to all RE?s.
Applicants should have an educational background in operation management / research; mathematics; engineering or manufacturing.
The ideal candidate will have manufacturing, layout design, programming and data analytics experience.
To be considered for the position of Advanced Research Engineer, you will need to be able to demonstrate experience conducting discrete event simulation studies.

The post holder will be responsible for delivery projects related to factory design and optimisation.
Specific project objectives will be provided by the Team Leader Business & Factory Optimisation and the Technology Manager once the candidate is in post.

A BSc or BEng Degree in appropriate operation management/research, mathematics, engineering or manufacturing subject.
Knowledge of the manufacturing sector and understanding of manufacturing systems and technologies.
Experience conducting Discrete Event Simulation studies.
