The main focus of this role will be to provide comprehensive mechanical engineering support to the manufacturing and packaging processes in order to maintain and improve operating efficiency.
Reporting to the Site Engineering Manager, you will be involved in the full range of mechanical engineering services, including reactive/breakdown maintenance, Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), machinery change-overs and ad hoc engineering projects (i.e. installation of new equipment). This will include monitoring equipment performance in order to identify potential faults and/or to effect improvements to performance efficiency.
Additionally, you will undertake monitoring and maintenance of site services, including gas, oxygen, water, steam, compressed air and air handling units.
To be considered for this position the following qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience are required:
- Time-served and apprentice-trained in a Mechanical Engineering discipline with a relevant formal qualification (i.e. City & Guilds certificate or ONC)
- Ideally educated to GCSE level in Maths and English (minimum C Grade)
- Previous experience of working with both liquid filling and packaging machinery, ideally within pharmaceutical or food manufacturing
- Knowledge of full range of basic tools including hand drills, spanners and more complex equipment such as micrometers, Vernier and Dial Test Indicators
