This role is part of the Life Financial Reporting team within the broader Aviva Finance Operations team: a highly effective and agile team providing finance reporting excellence to the rest of Aviva?s Finance function and wider business. This team, under the leadership of our global process owners, will be responsible for our core global Finance operational and reporting production processes.

The Life Financial Reporting team prepares the Life IFRS and Solvency II financial results for inclusion in the Aviva Group results along with the legal entity financial statements, Solvency II QRTs and narrative reports. In addition, it provides financial results for the wider Business.

Lead the accounting production teams to deliver timely and accurate regulatory, statutory and internal MI and external reporting. We?re looking for a qualified accountant with demonstrable post-qualified experience, ideally gained within a large insurance company environment. You will have a strong mix of relationship management and technical accounting skills (across both IFRS and Solvency II), and a good understanding of both life and non-life insurance products and markets.

You will have a proven record of delivering to time and quality, and experience of pro-active stakeholder management across a range of disciplines and seniority levels.

This is hugely varied role, and while you will need to be comfortable with dealing with a broad spectrum of responsibilities and tasks, it will provide the successful candidate with a diverse range of development opportunities and a strong position to progress their career within Aviva.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the accounting production teams to deliver timely and accurate regulatory, statutory and internal MI and external reporting
  • Ensure appropriate control framework in place with any issues/weaknesses identified and reported on a timely basis through to closure
  • Support business change across the team as required to ensure appropriate solutions for finance processes and controls
  • Drive continuous improvement within the team through systems thinking and automation
  • Manage the oversight of the Finance Operations for General ledger close activity and balance sheet controls
  • Manage the relationships with key stakeholders within the business namely actuarial reporting, investment reporting, consolidation, tax and wider Finance teams
  • Support the consolidation team with messaging and ad-hoc investigations in response to queries
  • Manage all relevant third party relationships relevant to accounting production
  • Manage the accounting systems feeds into the Accounting architecture for onward reporting production
  • Ensure appropriate control framework in place with any issues/weaknesses identified and reported on a timely basis through to closure

Skills & Experience required

Qualifications:

  • Degree level or equivalent
  • Qualified Accountant with strong finance technical experience, excellent change experience and strong knowledge in both IFRS and Solvency II, with good working knowledge across all bases.

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Ability to identify and mitigate issues or risks and know when to escalate.
  • Ability to identify problems and resolve these or escalate as appropriate.
  • Strong financial or regulatory reporting experience.
