Principal Street Lighting Engineer - opportunities nationwide
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Principal Street Lighting Engineer to work on major local authority contracts nationwide.
Candidates will have scope to be based in the offices closest to home for them, meaning the role can be based in London, Essex, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire or Cheshire, to suit the worker.
The salary offered is dependent upon exprerience.
Reporting to the Design Manager, the purpose of the role is to provide street lighting designs and to ensure delivery and quality is met for all design schemes.
·Future Line Management responsibilities for the team.
·Working with the Street Lighting Operation Managers to deliver their design requirements.
·Provide support the team to ensure that they can deliver.
·Approve design work carried out by the team.
·Providing day to day technical support for the designers.
·Ensure that the team are designing to the latest standards.
·Ensure that designs identify and mitigate all Health and Safety risks and are compliant with CDM.
·Interaction with Operations teams to ensure effective handover of designs including Health and Safety requirements.
·Ensure that the team have effective CPD plans and provide the training they require.
·Ensure that resourcing requirements are met.
·Work with the finance team to ensure that the budget is met and reported.
·Writing Design Team Monthly Update Reports for the Board covering Finance / Commercial, Resource, Quality, Issues, good news stories etc.
·Expand the team and work with external consultants and clients to increase revenue.
·Ensure that invest to save design work is delivered on time and to a good standard.
·Engagement with Clients and external parties.
Knowledge, skills and experience:
·Able to communicate clearly and appropriately within the company and with clients at a senior level.
·Good report writing skills.
·Membership of ILP or working towards.
·Registered with the Engineering council or working towards.
·Experience in electrical cable design.
·Experience in Lighting reality.
·Highly IT competent.
·Experienced user of AutoCAD, MS Project and MS Office software.
·Full Driving Licence.
·Good knowledge of CDM Regulations.
·String commercial focus.
·Experience of highways maintenance contracts.
·Experience of managing programmes of highway lighting works.
·Ability to plan, coordinate and organise a range of activities.
·Degree / HNC in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
·ILP Exterior Lighting Diploma.
·BS7671 17th Edition.
Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
