Preetha Sampath is recruiting for an Automation Software Engineer to join a medical device manufacturer on their site based in Southampton. This is a fantastic opportunity to join an innovative company with an expanding product portfolio on a permanent basis. WORKING PATTERN: Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - To have expert knowledge of machine vision/computer vision system components which include (but not limited to) Lighting, Optics, Cameras, Image Capture Techniques and Vision Software Libraries. - Assist in the design, development, implementation and validation of AIS(Automated Inspection system) systems for new processes, producing validation or engineering study reports. - Support and optimise existing bespoke AIS systems and off-the-shelf vision systems. - Implement and conduct training programmes for applicable support groups. - Lead small teams in the use of Continuous Improvement Tool and Techniques within a manufacturing environment. - Ability to keep abreast of new developments within the machine vision industry. - Good understanding of Quality Assurance and Quality Control systems, medical device/pharmaceutical, FDA, GAMP, ISO and International regulatory requirements. - May be required to do Out of Hours support on and Ad Hoc basis. - Develop understanding knowledge of PLC, SCADA Programming packages including RSLogix, Contrologix, RSView/FT View, DeviceNet, ControlNet and CoDeSys. - Interact with vendors and consultants in the development of AIS systems. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES - To be proficient in computer programming languages such as C#/C++ (.NET framework), Python and Matlab. - To have good knowledge of computer vision and machine learning software libraries for bespoke systems such as OpenCV, HALCON, Common Vision Blox, etc. - To have good knowledge of off-the-shelf integrated vision systems such as Cognex, Keyence, NeuroCheck, etc. and their software. - To have a good understanding of and interaction with PLC control systems and also other systems of the following software packages or industrial standard: OPC UA, Digital I/O, ControlNet, SQL database, etc. - To have a good understanding of the latest IT technologies such as networking, virtualisation, cloud computing, data analysis and machine learning. - The job holder will be office based, although the role would involve the job holder to work in areas where appropriate PPE must be worn. - Reasonable levels of business travel, local, nationally and international Please note that your CV should show exact dates of employment (month and year) and any gaps of a month or more should be explained.
