Maintenance Engineer

Derbyshire

Techselect Limited are currently recruiting on behalf of a Precision Engineering Group in the Derbyshire area

Post Description

The purpose of this role is to install, repair and maintain all plant machinery, both electrically and mechanically.

Equipment such as electrical devices, hydraulic and pneumatic devices and all types of onsite services (gas, water, electric and compressed air etc.), by performing the duties set out in this job description.

Duties and Responsibilities

This department provides service to the all production areas, involving liaison with the Cell leaders, Process Engineers and Process Setters as appropriate.

External liaison with Service Engineers may also be required.

Typical duties will include the following areas. For the avoidance of doubt, this is not a concise list of duties - you may be required to carry out additional duties, which are deemed to be reasonable, from time-to-time:

Follow instructions given by the Maintenance Manager and prioritise tasks according to the needs of the Production Departments, on the advice of the shift Cell leaders.

Work to standard operating procedures and ensure the safety of self and others at all times' Permit to work systems, hot work permits, plant machinery lock off isolation procedures etc. to be followed.

Install all new equipment on site to the required standards and specifications.

Diagnose faults on the plant and with specific items of equipment as appropriate.

Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, with due respect for the health and safety legislation.

Examine the condition of parts to detect imperfections as appropriate.

Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.

Adjust parts of devices and control instruments.

Repair or replace defective parts as appropriate.

Lubricate and clean parts relating to equipment.

Perform start-up procedures following the repair of, or new installation of, parts in order to test their performance and safety.

Set-up and operate drills, presses, grinders, welding devices and other metal working tools to make and repair parts. (Where safe to do so)

Carry out electrical maintenance work within level of competence.

Carry out mechanical maintenance work within level of competence.

Use hoists and other lifting/safety equipment as necessary in accordance with instructions.

General housekeeping duties to be carried out on a daily basis to encompass the Maintenance workshop and all other stations where repairs are or are to be carried out.

All above items relate to all areas of the facility and services.

Foster open communication with all members of the Maintenance team, using pre-described formats e.g. daily shift log book and incorporating handover discussions, relaying relevant information pertaining to work outstanding and work carried out.

Duties and Responsibilities - General

Participate in and support the implementation of the company-wide quality systems and ensuring that staff working for the department work within the quality standards

Act as a medium for effective knowledge transfer between all parties, both internal and external This will include the sharing of technical knowledge and experience, within the position held.

Contribute to the enhancement of the company's quality standards and the general work environment. This will include identification and recommendation of improved methods of working to aid everyone in the organisation
