EAL Secondary Teaching Assistant

In this role, you will be working specifically with EAL students, who need extra support in core subjects and personal development. There are numerous languages spoken in the school and you will be working closely with the EAL coordinator to successfully lead the high quality EAL provision. You may be required to work with pupils within the classroom or in intervention groups, and will need to patience and resilience to lead these successfully. There will be a pastoral aspect to this role, whereby you will need to be able to build a trusting environment to nurture the pupils to be confident and independent learners.

The ideal candidate will be a highly enthusiastic, energetic, proactive individual who has the passion to motivate and inspire students. You will have a desire to work with students who may be new to this country and have limited English. You will have a minimum of a 2:1 degree, preferably in a core subject, along with strong A Levels. Ideally you will have some relevant experience, or be able to demonstrate your passion to forge a career in teaching. In addition, you will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to relate well to all members of the school community.
