IT Engineer - Networking, Windows, AD, Hyper-v & DNS configuration

The purpose of this position is to maintain all aspects of the IT infrastructure ensuring systems are working to their optimum to maximise efficient working practices both remotely and on-site

This role will be critical in ensuring business success through the advancement of IT solutions that proactively support safer working and learning.

Although primarily a 3rd line role this role will involve working with support calls at all levels as required by the business

This role holder will be expected to research, plan, implement, document and support IT projects

Duties and responsibilities of this role will include:

? Installing and configuring computer hardware operating systems and applications

? Monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks

? Talking staff through a series of actions, either face-to-face or over the telephone, to help set up systems or resolve issues

? Troubleshooting system and network problems and diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults

? Replacing parts as required

? Providing support, including procedural documentation and relevant reports

? Following diagrams and written instructions to repair a fault or set up a system

? Supporting the roll-out of new applications

? Setting up new users' accounts and profiles and dealing with password issues

? Responding within agreed time limits to logged calls

? Working continuously on a task until completion (or referral to third parties, if appropriate)

? Prioritising and managing many open cases at one time

? Rapidly establishing a good working relationship with staff and other professionals, such as software developers

? Testing and evaluating new technology;

Essential Technical skills:

? Have good, written and verbal communication skills and be able to relate well to staff at all levels in the organisation.

? Intel and AMD based servers, workstations and laptops

? Networking, TCP/IP

? Windows Server 2008r2 / 2012r2

? Active directory and group policy management

? DNS / DHCP configuration and management

? Hyper-V virtualisation technologies

? Microsoft SCCM 2012r2 (SCCM & MDT)

? Sophos UTM and associated technologies

Essential skills

? An ability to use IT effectively to plan and carry out workload (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet, consult websites, etc.)

? An ability to show initiative in developing and maintaining systems

? An ability to provide accurate information as and when required

? An ability to deal with people sensitively and confidentially within policies and procedures

? Articulate and approachable, outstanding interpersonal skills

? A methodical and organised approach to work

? Self motivation in the pursuit of excellence

? Flexible approach to work as IT can include out of hours

? Able to work under pressure and to deadlines

? High level of attention to detail

Desirable skills

? Professional IT certification (MCITP, MCSE, CompTIA or similar)

? Microsoft Office 365 usage and management
