Main duties of the position Primary Objective: To design and develop mission critical applications and systems as part of an agile team. Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and evolve architectures for complex software based systems
  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure architecture designs fulfil functional and non-functional requirements and align with broader architectural goals
  • Act as Software Design Authority who can communicate risks and impacts of design changes to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Key contributor & independent reviewer at architecture reviews
  • Act as technical focal point for large scale software development programs
  • Personal development of team members through coaching and mentoring
  • Act as authority on tool, process and environment selection
  • Keep abreast of relevant technology changes and incorporate into architecture roadmaps as applicable
  • Bring technical context of the wider business to the teams
  • Promote and share technical decisions and choices made in our teams with the wider business
  • Own the architectural roadmap for our products and projects

Candidate Requirements Essential Skills The suitable candidate must have demonstrable experience as a software architect on projects of significant size and complexity and extensive skills in the following areas:

  • Responsible for initial design and development of new software or extensive software revisions
  • Work with key stakeholders to define product requirements
  • Build productive working relationships with technical stakeholders
  • Creating high-level architectural roadmaps
  • Ensuring feasibility, functionality, and integration with existing systems
  • Experience working with cloud technologies and distributed systems
  • Working knowledge of Java 7 (or later) and/or C# application development
  • Familiarity with structured and unstructured storage of data
  • Knowledge of at least 3 scripting or interpreted languages and high proficiency in at least 1.
  • High competency in use of software patterns
  • Ability to quickly adopt new technologies and best practices
  • In depth understanding of virtualization
  • Knowledge of SOLID programming principles

Desirable Skills

  • Experience of using Java Enterprise Edition (JEE) or Spring framework
  • Experience building enterprise level web applications, services or embedded software
  • Experience with high performance distributed systems
  • Experience Working with Agile/SCRUM/DevOps delivery models
  • Experience of Data Analytics and Visualization
  • Experience of Big Data Technologies
  • Experience in secure development techniques
  • Experience of PKI and encryption techniques
