The ideal candidate will be an ambitious and driven English Language/ Literature graduate, who has achieved a 2:1 or higher in their degree and has an excellent academic background including strong A-Levels. You must also have excellent communication skills and the ability to inspire young learners, motivating them to perform to the best of their abilities. You will need to take a creative approach to engaging young people and have the confidence in your skills and knowledge to deliver key aspects of the curriculum. You must be both empathetic and spirited in order to inspire those students who need an extra push to achieve their above and beyond their potential.

As an English Teaching Assistant you will assist within the classroom, supporting the day to day teaching and also deliver your own interventions with targeted groups. You will be given the opportunity to assist the teachers in their planning of lessons and be encouraged to support extracurricular activities. Once you feel more confident, you will have the opportunity to create your own lesson plans and resources, with the guidance of an encouragement of the department teachers.
