What you will do

As a Senior Automation Engineer within the Virtual Hosting Squad, you will be responsible for the development and support of Sky Betting & Gaming's internal PaaS toolset. Building Infrastructure as Code and automating the management of SB&G's enterprise level infrastructure and datacentres. You will be an excellent communicator who is excited by technology, with an ability to communicate technical information to non-experts. You will be providing support in-person and via Slack to our internal customers.

Working with the latest technologies driven by our roadmap and internal customer requirements.

How you will do it

* Developing and running self-service, API driven infrastructure
* Experience with test driven development and continuous integration
* You can explain how you can translate overall strategy into user stories deliverable by an autonomous small squad
* Knowledge of at least one object oriented programming language
* Designing and implementing projects for new automation and shared tooling
* Understanding of DRY principles
* Supporting other Operational and Delivery squads with automation and shared toolset queries and requests
* Support and develop our PaaS automation toolset
* Work closely with other squads, implementing changes that help improve speed and release quality
* Responsible for reviews of platform code changes, approving or suggesting improvements to authors as appropriate
* Be an expert on the toolset
* Own issues from initial diagnosis through to implementation of a fix
* Write and keep up to date documentation
* Challenge and suggest improvements to existing systems or processes on an ongoing basis
* Own improvements to the tools, following the software development lifecycle through test and into live
* Keep up to date with the latest open source technology and best practise, and suggest areas where new tools or practise can help the business achieve its goals

* Supporting other Operational and Delivery squads with automation and shared toolset queries and requests
* Identify areas where we can make efficiencies and avoid future workload by suggesting solutions that complement our existing tooling strategy
* Working with colleagues' cross-site (Leeds and Sheffield) as one team
* Inception sessions to collaborate on solutions and break down our project epics into stories
* Continuous Delivery using the toolset we maintain
* Retrospective sessions to agree how we can improve technical delivery, operational support and squad processes

We will consider remote working (with at least 50% of time being in the base office), part-time working and flexible hours to accommodate your personal circumstances, providing we can meet our business needs.
