Person Specification

For this Mathematics Learning Mentor role you must have a maths related degree and a high level of Mathematical subject knowledge in order to support GCSE students. You must be a confident communicator who can effectively build relationships with a range of people including students, parents/carers and colleagues. Ideally you will be someone who is thinking of becoming a maths teacher in the future and wants to use this opportunity to gain knowledge and experience prior to a teacher training course in 2018.

About the role

As a Mathematics Mentor you will be supporting a range of learners including the gifted and talented students who require an additional boost to achieve the highest marks with the new GCSE measures. After a period of training you will organise, plan and deliver small group intervention booster sessions to help students to achieve their potential. You do not experience of this previously as you will be supported by the head of maths who will give you training on how to plan and deliver effective interventions. You will also support in the classroom, assisting the maths teachers with gathering resources for the lessons and supporting specific children within each lesson.

If you have a keen interest in Sport or music this school would be keen for you to get involved in exciting extra-curricular activities.
