Back End Developer - Python, PostgreSQL, Docker, AWS, online Events platform
This is contract post for 6 months, based in London.
This client supports UK businesses to take advantage of the global appetite for British goods and services, as well as to assist international companies to collaborate with UK suppliers. We are a specialist body, with new trade negotiating capacities and revolutionising the way businesses access international markets.
Main activities/ responsibilities:
You?ll be working on an international events platform which features will include registration, search, networking and ticketing. Experience in these areas would be an advantage. An ability to help technically architect on these features will also be welcome.
Developers will follow the department?s software development standards, including 48h to delivery principles. They will proactively seek to address roadblocks affecting assignments. They will demonstrate collaboration within and between product delivery teams; reusing and sharing components, contributing to standards development, and sharing knowledge. They will ensure that delivered products are resilient, scalable and report errors only when human intervention is needed.
The developers will be working as part of an agile team alongside, user researcher, UX designer, front end developer and led by a product owner and delivery manager. There is an expectation that they will liaise with other BEDs and Technical Architects within DIT to share tools and knowledge where needed.
Day-to-day responsibility for working within the product team to support, maintain and develop a new product.
Work with appropriate members of the delivery team to build appropriate back-end infrastructure to allow the visual display of data on a web-based front end.
Perform maintenance tasks as required for the accuracy and integrity of the customer facing service
Building web and mobile products to serve user needs
Building up a useful, robust automated test suite to support a Continuous Deployment environment.
Being involved in the wider web development community, identifying good practices we can adopt and sharing our experiences.
Sharing knowledge of tools and techniques with the wider team, both developers and non-developers
Taking part in 2nd-line support of applications and platforms, including occasional support outside of office hours
Extensive Python expertise
Good database knowledge (PostgreSQL)
Extensive web frameworks expertise: django, flask
Good oauth2 knowledge
Is comfortable in TDD and BDD environment. Is comfortable to write unit tests, integration tests
Experience in data science
worked in devops culture and can automate deployment pipeline
Worked with planning technical architecture and deployment
