ICT Technician / Support Technician

This role would suit a junior support technician with at least 12 months experience, preferably within an education establishment and a willingness to train, learn and develop. The responsibilities include:
To assist with the administration of the local area network within the school, ensuring that standards of data integrity, security and access are maintained.
To provide basic advice and instruction in the use of ICT equipment
With support from the IT Manager, monitor that the data protection management system and internet filtering software is in place, active and complying with managed policies.
To maintain and update the asset management database ensuring correct identification of new equipment.
To ensure that all peripheral equipment (scanners, cameras, printers, and interactive screens etc) is maintained in working order, to set up such equipment as required and integrate with ICT equipment.
To be familiar with the network infrastructure within the school
To monitor ICT booking requests and ensure the deployment of ICT equipment within the school.
To support staff with morning assemblies, ensuring equipment is in working order and assisting with setup of presentations etc.
To replace ink cartridges and toner in deployed printers with classrooms and offices as necessary
Manage user accounts e.g. creation & deletion of users and password resets
Installation and commissioning of new thin client and staff laptop devices, referring any warranty repairs onto the appropriate support body
Monitor vWorkspace for alarms or deprecation of services and report issues as they arise
Maintain and contribute to the IT Support knowledgebase, ensure that all solutions for any issues that arise are fully documented and uploaded.
Maintain security standards as outlined in documented policies.
Ensure network and desktop image maintenance is carried out in line with standards/procedures as instructed by the IT Manager
Provide general ICT support for staff and students using school approved software systems
Assist the ICT manager when training staff individually or in small groups
Support and train staff on the use of office equipment such as interactive screen, digital cameras, scanners, an notebooks.
Keep updated on new emerging technologies and advise the ICT manager on the availability and the use of cutting edge technologies.
Ensure system upgrades received are implemented within the agreed timescale and any problem encountered are reported back to the IT Manager.
