Senior Engineer Traffic Signals and ITS Design
£38,313 per annum for 36 hours per week Monday to Friday based at Mole Business Park, Leatherhead, Surrey KT22 7BA.
This post will be based in our Leatherhead Office, However flexible working is supported where possible. The post holder will be required to work on site, carry out out-of-hours standby and fault desk duties on a rota basis as necessary. About the Role
Are you looking for an opportunity to build your career in traffic signal and ITS design?
Surrey County Council is the Highway Authority for the County of Surrey with responsibility for over 3000 miles of road and in excess of 750 traffic signal / ITS assets.
Based at the County Council?s Network Management Information Centre (NMIC), the post holder will be responsible for managing a team of 3 design engineers and will have a key role to play in the upgrading of the County Council Traffic control centre and on-street systems.
You will be required, with minimal supervision, to manage the feasibility, design and implementation of Traffic Signal and Intelligent Transport Systems and ensure their operational safety and efficiency. The post holder will also be responsive to the demands and priorities of the wider directorate to develop systems to provide a safe and efficient road network using ITS and other infrastructure to manage congestion, while providing support in financial monitoring of major projects.
The successful candidate will have the following:
1) Degree or HNC or equivalent, or substantial experience in a relevant subject.
2) Significant experience in the design and operation of Traffic signals and ITS systems.
3) Comprehensive knowledge of current design guides and standards relating to Traffic signals and ITS.
4) Experience in managing a small team of Engineers.
5) Experience of project management and delivery.
6) Good communication skills
7) Full UK driving licence.
