Our client is a well-established and respected manufacturer of fixtures, fittings and components both mechanical and electronic in the home and building infrastructure products sector. Highly acquisitive and experiencing excellent growth, the company is based in a brand-new office, distribution centre and test centre complex in the West Midlands close to the M6/M54 but has operational facilities and subsidiaries nationally and globally.
As a result of growth, they are now seeking to strengthen their Test Centre team with the appointment of a number of key positions including Test Engineering Team Leader. In this role you will both lead, mentor and coach a team of test engineers and also undertake day to day running of the test centre including work flow planning from quotations through to running testing procedures and reporting back. Our client offers testing and certification services both on an in-house basis to group companies and also to other manufacturers for mechanical, electrical and electronic components and products, in line with industry and national and international standards and certifications.
Testing equipment is pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical/electronic and could cover tensile testing as well as a wide range of other tests.
- Leadership, coaching and development of team of Test & Development Engineers
- Development testing, create procedures, methods, implement test equipment and plan to carry these tests out with minimum amount of sample as possible Carry out tests and advise on customer concerns/ complaints about products that are causing failures or are not performing correctly Test demonstrations for customers and other stakeholders in relation to potential security risks Internal audit co-ordinator to BSI requirements
- Internal & external calibration to BSI requirements
- Report on test failures to customers and offer solutions to the issues by means of investigation, re testing and experience Setting up of internal and external samples as requested, also BS1 audit samples Manage all external testing requests Maintain or fix test equipment / area as the need arises so tests are not delayed which are normally time sensitive
The Ideal Applicant:
Our client is seeking Engineering professionals with a track record in accredited best practise laboratory test and certifications processes utilising management systems for raising quotes, managing workload, recording, planning, reporting and approvals as well as raising control samples.
You could be working in test engineering as part of a specialised testing team or alternatively as part of a quality focused or other manufacturing related role but keen to develop further into the testing and certification area.
Most importantly you will be a time served Engineering Professional with engineering qualifications strongly focused on mechanical engineering and supplemented with electrical engineering experience.
