General Enforcement Officer
Our client is looking for an experienced General Enforcement Officer (Fly Tipping) to work on a 18.50 hour per week contract role to start on the 23-10-17 until the 12-01-18 with a likely extension
Hours: 9:00 am to 5:30 pm
To investigate and resolve difficult, high profile and significant environmental crimes, affecting the District by operating across traditional boundaries and using the best powers available from whatever discipline.
This post supports the General Enforcement Officers within the Environmental Compliance Team while carrying out the following functions:
• Enforcement of fly tipping (and other waste related) offences.
• Liaison with other agencies e.g. Police; NFU; HCC; etc.
• Deployment of overt CCTV equipment.
• Collection, review and collation of evidence.
• Conducting PACE interviews.
• Preparation of cases for court.
Experience in environmental enforcement or similar field. (environmental crime enforcement - waste related legislation)
Knowledge and experience (fly tip investigations eg...) in collecting evidence and preparing cases for prosecutions.
Practical knowledge of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 (PACE) codes of practice and the conducting PACE interviews and taking Ss9 statements.
An understanding of the Data Protection Act 1998, Human Rights Act 1998 and the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 (RIPA) with respect to the use of overt and covert cameras would be an advantage.
