There is the very real prospect for this role to convert into a training contract once you have been in the post for 6 months.

This is an opportunity to join a leading law firm on the South London/Kent border. Established for over 125 years, they understand the value of a personal and friendly service but they also recognise the need to move with the times and today they are a modern, progressive firm.

They understand the importance of their people; the practice has been accredited by Investors in People since 2005, which is recognised across the world as a mark of excellence in 'putting people first'. The practice also ranks as a Legal 500 firm, is listed in the reputable Chambers Guides, is Lexcel accredited and a member of the Law Society's Conveyancing Quality Scheme and Wills and Inheritance Quality Scheme.

You are:
A bright, enthusiastic, graduate-level candidate with approximately two years' experience of working with debt recovery claims which are defended by the debtor. Ideally you have experience of working on the side of the claimant, but you may instead be proficient in working on the Debtor side.

You like to be busy and are serious about your career.

If you have the LPC you may be hoping for a training contract; we like to recruit from within and there is the very real prospect of this role converting within 6 months.

You Have:
- 2+ years' experience working in Debt Recovery Litigation handling your own caseload
- GCSE at grades A-C in Mathematics and English (or equivalent)
- ILEX Legal Executive Diploma Level 3 or above or qualifying law degree (desirable)
- Legal Practice Course (desirable)

You will:
Manage a caseload of files from start to finish, from the point of being notified that a claim is being defended to obtaining judgements/settlement, with the aim of recovering money for clients.

Your day-to-day will include reviewing and assessing cases for liability; gathering additional documentation as required, including the preparation of witness statements; filing papers to the court service, using standard forms and documentation; instructing Counsel; and ensuring timely service of judgements to the defendants.

The recruiting company are committed to equality of opportunity and welcome applications from all sections of the community.

The successful applicant will be required to undergo a Basic Disclosure for unspent criminal convictions, a 3-year work history check, ID check and Adverse Financial check.

The recruiting company will offer an automatic interview to candidates who meet the minimum requirements and have a disability under the Equality Act 2010. Please make clear in your application if you believe that this applies to you.
