Due to our ongoing success, we are expanding our team and are looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated, and ambitious Mechanical Engineer to work with us to deliver safe, quality, sustainable and innovative design solutions. Ideally, the successful candidate will have 2-5 years’ relevant industry experience, but graduates will also be considered for the post. The successful candidate will predominantly be focussed on marine renewables projects but may have opportunities to work in other industries as the business and role develops. Key Tasks: Mechancal and systems design and analysis at concept and detailed level. Working in a supervised environment, ensuring that the technical content of all work carried out is correct, of a high quality, and completed in accordance with the relevant standards, to agreed timescales and budgets. Be able to work in close collaboration with other team members across different disciplines, and have an appreciation of their roles but, where necessary, be capable of working on your own initiative with appropriate supervision. Ensuring that all work is carried out is in full compliance with the Company’s quality management procedures and current H&S legislation requirements. Report to the appropriate project leader/manager on technical issues and progress associated with project work. Where required attend and/or lead project meetings with the client or project partners. Qualifications: A first-class or 2:1 academic degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. Experience/Skills: Essential: Have a strong understanding of mechanical engineering design principles; Confident and efficient using 3D design software packages (SolidWorks preferred); Excellent technical and analytical skills; Practical and theoretical experience of mechanical or systems design; Excellent problem-solving capability, and ability to find quick, innovative and practical solutions to engineering challenges; Good working knowledge of all standard Microsoft office programs, in particular Excel. Desired: Experience of working in a multi-disciplined engineering design or manufacturing environment; Experience of prototype engineering and/or scaled model manufacture and testing; Experience of project engineering and associated management procedures; Skills in Finite Element Analysis and/or system simulation and modelling; Knowledge or experience of the renewables energy sector; Knowledge or experience of working in the marine environment (e.g. oil & gas, offshore, fishing). Experience of working or programming with MatLAB, Visual Basic (for Excel), or other programming languages; Qualities required : Ability to communicate in a fluent and positive manner with other team members; Good technical report writing ability, and ability to produce concise design documents in clear English. Ability to work on own initiative and but know when to seek assistance; Able to work collaboratively with others to form strong positive working relationships with colleagues, clients and contractors; Ability to organise and prioritise workload to ensure that timescales are met; Be committed to delivering a quality product.
