The Role

We're looking for a communications executive to join the Sky Business' comms team and work on internal and external comms campaigns. This role is a 12 months Maternity Cover. The comms executive will support the external and internal comms managers on proactive, reactive and creative campaigns, and will be keen to take opportunities to lead their own projects too. The team covers a broad remit - PR and external comms, internal comms, events and sponsorship. Events and hospitality are a fun part of the job, but will require you to attend evening functions.

Your Key Responsibilities

Working with the internal and external comms managers to carry out campaign delivery, written tasks and creative projects as part of overall strategies to support Sky Business meeting its objectives.

Manage the digital screens in the four offices, updating the content weekly and managing the process of creating and uploading news.

Assist the internal comms manager creating a weekly newsletter, writing articles on today@sky and briefs on iKnow2, the contact centre knowledge portal.

Work with the events manager to ensure Sky Business gets the maximum return on investment from events and sponsorship opportunities.

Build relationships with press, trade and industry associations across our sectors.

Manage the press office for Sky Business compliance activity (prosecutions against pubs screening Sky Sports illegally) writing press releases, liaising with journalists and delivering coverage to stakeholders

Development and delivery of PR/External communication plans to support the hotel sector.

Maintain iKnow2, the contact centre knowledge portal, updating content regularly and monitoring the Chatter feedback page

Your Skills

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1 year of experience in a press office or comms team, be a competent writer of press releases, articles and blogs, and comfortable liaising with media and external stakeholders.

Educated to degree level with excellent writing skills, CIPR or journalism qualification is desirable.

The right candidate for this job will love sport and have strong knowledge of TV sport, and be keen to learn about Sky's entertainment and factual programming, too.

A knowledge of the licensed trade (aka pubs and bars), and hotel/accommodation sectors would be useful but not mandatory.

An enthusiastic and proactive communicator who is prepared to hit the ground running to get under the skin of Sky Business and keen to learn and develop their comms skills further in our small but high-performing team.

Candidates may have experience in either B2B or B2C comms - this role is quite unique and involves both.

Familiar with Sky's entertainment and news content.
