Development Engineering Manager - Airborne/Avionics - Radar, Electronic Warfare, surveillance and communication systems.

Our client is a highly successful global aerospace company. They are looking for a Development Engineering Manager, this is a newly created role, you will be managing 30 plus engineers in the following disciplines - Software, Hardware, Mechanical, Systems, Integration Test and Qualification.

You will take ownership and lead the provision of design, development, support and technical management.

Qualifications/Experience:

Candidates need to have experience and a proven track record and significant experience at technical management level of airborne/avionics systems like radar, electronic warfare, surveillance and communications systems

  • Technical Degree specialising in discipline or speciality applicable to the skills above.
  • Extensive experience of regulatory requirements and procedures related to airborne systems.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of Engineering Design Reviews.
  • Proven ability to deliver, to time pressure and deadlines.
  • Demonstrable performance in team building, fostering organisational culture and delivery continuous improvement.
  • Excellent organisational, communication and leadership skills.
  • The demonstrated ability to motivate people and influence change in line with the company organisational values.
  • Sound understanding of budgetary, accounting and financial tools and processes.
  • The ability to build, lead and operate within high performing teams.
  • Bid and Proposal activities.
  • Project Reviews.
  • Demonstrated track record of technical delivery and programme execution.
  • Strong technical knowledge of airborne radar, electronic warfare, surveillance and communications systems and associated technologies.
  • Good understanding of avionic, electrical and mechanical certification principles, regulatory requirements and compliance.
  • Able to make decisions in complex and ambiguous situations and with incomplete data.
  • Ability to build excellent customer and internal relationships.
  • Strong report writing and presentation skills.
  • The ability to work within a large organisation in a matrix management structure.
  • Team oriented with proven advanced communication, change management and influencing skills.
  • Self, motivated, confident, assertive.
  • Ability to obtain SC Security Clearance.
