Job Description and Skills

FPGA design:

We are looking for talented, enthusiastic, hardworking Scientists & Engineers at all levels with expertise in high performance FPGA design, DSP algorithm development and highly integrated SoC platforms to join our Firmware Team.
Your role in the design of complex FPGAs will form part of our self-protection systems installed on fast jet, UAV, land and naval platforms. You will get the opportunity to develop your skills in firmware design and with the latest FPGA technologies. You will work with the support of world class experts in their field, using world class facilities to deliver designs that meet challenging future customer requirements. Your role may even take you across the UK or abroad for technical reviews. We are interested in skills and experience primarily, an Engineering, Physics or Mathematics related degree would be an asset. Experience of design tools such as Xilinx TCL, Verilog, System Verilog, UVM and FPGA architectures such as Xilinx 7 and Ultra Scale will also be an asset. Key Responsibility Areas

Experienced in the principles of firmware design and capable of carrying out FPGA design work using a structured design process.
A real interest in the latest SoC technologies.
The ability to analyse system level documents and derive detailed FPGA requirements under own initiative.
Design of Complex FPGA devices utilising the latest FPGA technologies.
Independent Firmware Assessments within peer group of complex firmware designs

Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required

We are interested in skills and experience primarily, an Engineering, Physics or Mathematics related degree or equivalent would be an asset
VHDL/ Verilog based FPGA design and verification techniques
Familiar with Mentor Graphics FPGA Development tools including HDL
Designer, Modelsim and Precision and Xilinx Tools such as Vivado and XST
A methodical approach to firmware design, working to a structured firmware process such as RTCA DO-254
Experience of writing and creating firmware requirements, module
Interface Documents and procurement specifications.
Specification of complex timing & area constraints for efficient place & route
Experience of de-bugging and testing firmware designs and supporting module and system related test, verification and integration project phases
Awareness of Model Driven Engineering tools including MATLAB and Simulink
High Speed Interface Design & Integration, DSP and embedded processing.
Must be self-motivated and have an aptitude to problem solve and drive difficult issues to conclusion on time
