• Arranging regular meetings with partners to discuss staff planning, recruitment and personnel issues as required
• Monitoring staff progress, identifying and addressing the training and development needs of both individuals and the whole team
• Reviewing audit and accounts work and related tax matters to ensure quality and consistency and to provide timely feedback on work performed
• Attending technical courses, technical committee meetings and undertaking technical reading to ensure own technical competence and identify relevant issues for the firm
• Attending client meetings and dealing with correspondence as appropriate
• Meeting with the managing partner and feedback of relevant issues to and from audit/accounts team
• Complying with the firm’s operating procedures as laid down in the quality manual and the practice administration manual insofar as they relate to the manager role
• Co-ordinating the reviewing of compliance work to ensure quality and consistency and to ensure mechanisms exist for timely feedback on work performed.
• Arranging the annual quality review of audit and accounts work in conjunction with the audit partner
• Liaising with the technical committee regarding technical issues relevant to the firm
• Liaising with the IT manager regarding the software and hardware needs of the department ensuring that any problems relating to accounting software are addressed
• Liaising with the HR manager to fulfill recruitment and personnel needs of the audit/accounts team
• Liaising with the personal tax department to provide suitable taxation training and experience for Trainee Accountants
• Projecting a positive and professional image
• Ensuring regular and constructive feedback is given to audit/accounts team members
• Providing leadership and motivation to the audit/accounts team
• Ensuring that there is adequate time and resources for the support and development of the audit/accounts team
• Authorising timesheets
• Preparation of whole firm annual returns
• Monitoring the CPD records
• Updating letters of engagement

• Qualified ACA/FCA/ACCA/FCCA or qualified by experience with a strong audit/accounts background
