Senior Solutions Data Architect This is an exciting opportunity the shape the next iteration in digital publishing strategy. You will be the Senior Solutions Data Architect interfacing directly with senior stakeholders to drive the data architecture required to deliver the business goals. There are a number of major work streams that have complex data architecture inputs, and in effect are data architect led relying heavily on the collection, integration and modelling of data to be successful. You are also part of the Architecture Team and mentor the data engineering team and broader technology community in our data strategy. Essential Experience for the Role: Adobe experience or GCP (Google Cloud Platform) experience is essential- MUST have one or the other. They have bought an adobe stack- cms is adobe- so they need someone who knows the data mgmt. platform and someone who can make sure they do it properly. Need to be able to get up to speed really quickly with adobe data mgmt. platform if you don't have the adobe experience (e.g. if you are a GCP expert instead) Other useful skills: - Big table - Google Big query Role: - Day to day you will work in within a dedicated data team, supporting and informing the overall data delivery workstreams across the business. - You are responsible for the architecture and solution design of elegant, secure, robust, performant and cost effective data solutions. - You oversee the design, implementation, testing and deployment of those solutions into production, taking ownership of issues as they arise. - Strong technical expertise, Business acumen, communication skills and attention to detail are key in this role. - You are involved in critical evaluation and selection of software and hardware components, ensuring that IaaS, PaaS, SaaS and 3rd parties are used appropriately. - The Architecture team represents our design expertise across the Enterprise and Product development space, each member contributing their specialist knowledge to the wider team to allow a 360 degree view of our technology and solution portfolio. - In addition, the Team provide technology governance, set and review standards and ensure any technology we buy or build is fit for purpose and strategically sound. - This role will operate at senior level so a successful candidate will have the relevant skills and experience to reflect this. Key Job Responsibilities - Develop, own and drive the data architecture, with a focussed, strategic view; aligning the needs of Technology and the Business. - Drive the program of evaluating data platforms and services, benchmarking of alternative solution architectures, defining a process for the provision of structured, scalable data products. - Analysis of requirements to determine system design, identify risks/opportunities and high level estimation for projects; supporting technical aspects of Business cases as they arise. - Work closely within a matrix organisation made up of Product Owners, Delivery Managers, Data Engineers, Data Scientists as well as 3rd Party vendor organizations to assure, guide and direct alignment to the required solution design. - Work with the rest of the Architecture team to establish standards, policies and procedures across the Technology organisation, acting as the architectural governance for all data related technologies. - Bridge the divide between Technical and Non-Technical stakeholders - including the Senior Leadership Team - tailoring your language and approach appropriately. - Provide support for business critical escalations as needed. - Be the technical authority and thought leader for all aspects of data, including architectural patterns, security, compliance, performance and scalability. - Design and maintain data models and manage data integration, performing data quality analysis and profiling tasks. - Take responsibility for maintaining data models, the data architecture, configuration and reference data catalogues. Specific Requirements/Skills for Solution Architect - Knowledge and experience of designing and delivering end to end data solutions into a complex ecosystem. - Have a grasp of a wide variety of data technologies, understanding when and where to use them appropriately. - Proven experience of delivering against a data strategy in a large, established Business, ideally with a media focus. - Be a certified solution architect in either GCP or AWS (GCP preferred), with detailed knowledge of the technical capabilities of one or both cloud platforms in relation to Big Data. - Understand how to leverage data and analytics, allowing the Business to drive change through data driven insights. - Proven experience in data modelling, BI platforms and reporting interfaces. - Experience of designing and implementing complex, scalable ETL pipelines (ideally Talend) in a data warehousing ecosystem. - Have a software engineering background with at least 5 years experience of one of the following languages: Python, Java or Scala. - Excellent understanding of web and data technologies, including APIs, caching, ETL, persistence (SQL and NoSQL), predictive analytics, data visualisation and unstructured data . - Excellent knowledge in data security standards with an understanding of how to prepare a Business for GDPR. - Excellent understanding of the complete SDLC in an Agile environment. - Demonstrate a broad and deep understanding of emerging Data technologies (specifically around AI and ML) backed by innovative, creative and appropriate ideas for their use. - Ideally, have a background in working within a dynamic, media and publishing Business. -
