As Application Developer you will have a strong background in business intelligence and data management, with a deep MicroStrategy concentration. This individual should have extensive hands-on experience with the various components of the MicroStrategy product catalog. In addition this person should have extensive knowledge and hands-on experience developing simple grid reports to complex documents and dashboards leveraging advanced MicroStrategy objects (e.g. Intelligent cubes and Visual Insight).

This person will work with the global EDM Development teams, Infrastructure teams, other IT members, business analysts, and external resources.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Presents all work in design review and code review sessions to senior team members, and must be able to explain and support decisions made and actions taken.Work with project management and other members of project teams to ensure regular feedback on progressProduces documentation for changes and enhancements to current systems under limited guidance.Work with the MicroStrategy administrator(s) and Senior Developer(s) to ensure adherence of solutions to QVC standards.Work with data modelers to create and maintain consistency and accuracy of all logical and physical data models associated with semantic layer metadata.Develop strong partnerships with power user community and work with them to support BI development efforts.Work with EDM management to abide by QVC Data Governance standards and guidelines.Follow SDLC methodology in regards to code development and deployment to ensure compliance.Participate in quality assurance reviews of EDM software components to ensure environment is functioning properly.Mentor business and IT partners in MicroStrategy development best practices to continually improve and increase QVC’s BI capabilities.Specific Job Knowledge

Demonstrates strong working knowledge of the relevant programming languages, tools, and technologies for the area supported.

Demonstrates strong understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC).

Has a strong working understanding of installed systems, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve most problems on the existing systems supported.

Has an understanding of key technical architectural components and how they should be factored into decisions and recommendations.

Keeps up to date on the changing business needs for the area supported and the subsequent impact on applications.

Discusses technology-related business problems with clients and project partners, and collaborates to assess options and develop the best solution.

Qualifications

Technical knowledge of Business Intelligence tools, primarily MicroStrategy including tool configuration and usage, internal structures, architect design concepts, optimization techniques and development of complex objects and documentsTechnical and strong MicroStrategy development and tuning skillsexperience with BI or Data Warehouse projectshands-on experience with MicroStrategyhands-on experience with Hyperion BISQL programming experienceexperience working in multiple technical projects through a SDLCExperience with RDBMS (Oracle, SQL Server) is preferredExperience with BI visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Visual Insights) is preferredExperience in database design, administration and optimization is a plusSCRUM experience is a plus
