The Technical IT Manager role is to support and maintain in-house computer systems, desktops, servers, networking equipment, and peripherals. This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all hardware and equipment while ensuring optimal workstation performance as directed by Corporate IT. Client Details Working for global consumer company based in the heart of West London. Description IT Manager: Strategy & Planning - Accurately document instances of hardware failure, repair, installation, and removal. - Assist in developing long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future computer hardware needs within the region. - Support development and implementation of new computer projects and new hardware installations. - Maintain up-to-date knowledge of hardware and equipment contracts and supervise contract-based installations. - Develop yearly PC needs for the local region. Operational Management - Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex desktop problems for end users, and recommend and implement corrective solutions, including off-site repair for remote users as needed. - Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end-user workstations and related hardware and software in order to deliver required desktop service levels. - Assess the need for and implement performance upgrades to PC boxes, including the installation of CPUs, I/O and NIC cards, hard disks, ribbon cables, hard drives, RAM, memory chips, CD-ROMs, and so on. - Collaborate with network administrators to ensure efficient operation of the company's desktop computing environment within the region. - Where required, administer and resolve issues with associated end-user workstation networking software products. - Receive and respond to incoming calls, pages, and/or e-mails regarding desktop, server, or network problems. - Ensure all PC user issues are entered into IT Help Desk System (preferably by end user if possible). - Work with end users to identify and deliver required PC service levels. - Liaise with, and provide training and support to, end users and staff on computer hardware and off the shelf software issues. - Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end user workstation hardware, networked peripheral devices, and networking hardware products. - Where required, install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot associated end user workstation software and networking software products. - Monitor all software licenses in the region and periodic audit all other remote sites in accordance with corporate and regional statutes. - Negotiate contracts with local and regional vendors in accordance with corporate guidelines. - Construct, install, and test customised configurations based on various platforms and operating systems. - If necessary, liaise with third-party support and PC equipment vendors. - Conduct IT operations and ensure IT compliance within approved regional authority matrix. - Manage and maintain phone systems, mobile devices, VoIP, and telecom infrastructure in accordance with all regional and corporate standards. - Build and maintains vendor relationships and manages the purchase of all software, hardware and other IT suppliers at the regional level. Profile IT Manager Knowledge & Experience - Excellent technical knowledge of network and PC hardware. - Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience. - Working technical knowledge of current network protocols, operating systems, and standards. - Ability to operate tools, components, and peripheral accessories. - Able to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and OEM guides. - Ability to conduct research into PC issues and products as required. - In-depth knowledge of hardware and software - Up-to-date knowledge of the latest IT and software trends - Be proactive in support in the creation, monitoring and improvement of tools and processes.
