Digital Consultant - Product Owner/Manager - Agile

As a result of our continued expansion a new opportunity exists for a Digital Consultant.

You will report to the CSO (Chief Strategy Officer) and will be focused on delivering assigned projects from conception through the product life cycle to completion. This is a consultative role where both product/project management skills will be required.

Purpose of role:

Leading CAFs largest (& varying) projects and programmes to their delivery. This will require coaching, collaborating and coordinating both within the project delivery teams and with the client.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Your main duties will include gathering, understanding and acting upon requirements proposed by our clients. This means being heavily involved during all stages of the delivery process; Planning, designing, developing, testing and deploying of solutions and their related systems (CMS, Databases, Web Services, etc.)

Working primarily in an Agile and Scrum delivery process, you will be closest with your project delivery team of developers, designers, quality assurance engineers and project managers who are all internal. You will also be required to work and communicate effectively across various departments including Sales and Marketing.

Key Skills:


  • Opportunity assessment: understanding and documenting client markets and user needs
  • Discovery: collecting and analysing client, user and market data
  • Creating value propositions and vision statements
  • Writing user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Creating user personas
  • Creating user flow diagrams and flow charts
  • Defining and testing hypothesis’ with MVPs
  • Occasionally creating paper/digital wireframes and prototypes
  • Creating, managing and grooming product backlogs in JIRA
  • Leading interactive workshops with clients and end users
  • Participating in daily Stand-ups and scrum ceremonies
  • Frequent client communications and management


    Project Planning and Management:
    Leading project scope definition and refinement; Organise and lead project status and workshopsManage project risks and issues; Correct deviations from plans and ensure mitigation; Create project budgets and updates to keep within agreed margins.
Process Management and Improvement:
    Utilise the CAF-defined project/product management process to successfully complete, track and record projects; Grow awareness and knowledge of Agile project management frameworks while ensuring a basic understanding of traditional processes.
Team building:
    Promote empowerment of the delivery team by communicating individuals accountability;Ensure that each team member is fully engaged in the project and making a meaningful contribution through constantly communication and collaboration;
Skills, experience and person specification:

  • Well rounded knowledge in software delivery and integration delivery.
  • Passion for mobile, web and all things digital.
  • Ability to work closely alongside developers; understand the technology, its capabilities and knowing what’s feasible.
  • Ability to work closely alongside designers; be the voice of the user within the business, have an appreciation and understanding of UX.
  • In depth understanding experience with Agile.
  • At least 5+ years experience successfully implementing software, web and mobile development projects using Agile methodologies in a high-tech development environment with multi-function teams.
Balanced business/technical background:

oSufficient level of technical background to appreciate the problems highlighted by the development teams and to be able to identify and begin to work through complex project risks and issues – seeking support where needed.

  • Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with an ability to manage competing demands.
  • Full understanding of the clients business needs, with the ability to establish/maintain customer trust and confidence.
  • Solid understanding of project tools:
  • Agile tools such as Jira/Greenhopper, Rally, VersionOne or equivalent
  • Office Tools
  • Excellent levels of oral and written communications skills.
  • Thorough awareness of problem-solving techniques and mitigation requirements.
  • Ability to manage work within tight deadlines whilst managing own time, ensuring projects are delivered on time and in line with budget expectations.
  • Acts quickly and can work collaboratively in an environment that values creativity and flexibility.
  • Performs effectively under pressure.
  • Builds effective relationships both internally and externally.
  • Emphatic communicator who is able to see things from the other person’s point of view.
Hours:Set hours, weekdays 9am – 5.30pm, but some flexibility may be required to meet business needs.
