Technical Support Analyst - St Helens - (£28,000 - £32,000)

We are an extremely well established retailer who have been going for nearly 25 years and have a great reputation within the market. We are now looking for an ambitious Technical Support Analyst to join our team and be part of the journey.

You will be joining the service desk team and supporting the existing infrastructure including servers, applications, network, storage and data. There is also a healthy split between BAU and project work, with projects being a significant part of the role - your end goal being to develop and improve our IT service and environment.

Skills we are looking for: (the more the better and flexible judged on merit)
  • Windows Server 2003/2008 , Domain Administration, Group Policy, DNS,DHCP etc.
  • Virtualisation technology, VMware , IBM LPARS
  • Client desktop experience, Windows 7/10 , RDS and thin clients
  • Excellent problem solving and excellent communication skills.
  • Strong planning, organising and prioritising abilities.
  • Good TCP/IP knowledge, experience of Cisco Switches (advantageous)
  • Cisco ASA firewall's, basic firewall administration, rule administration, VPN (advantageous)
  • Webserver setup/administration, Apache, IIS and other related technologies
  • Sophos AV and related technologies
  • Avaya CM,VOIP, SIP, AACC
  • Understanding of Cloud Technologies and principles (AWS/Azure)
  • Basic Unix experience/Administration AIX & PowerVM /Solaris/Ubuntu
  • Storage/SAN/NFS

We are open minded and although the salary bracket states £28,000 - £32,000 we will consider as low as £25,000 if somebody has the right soft skills combined with technical potential.

  • Provide application and infrastructure support.
  • Resolve issues that come into the service desk and embrace escalated more challenging issues.
  • Ensure that incidents are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot server and network performance.
  • Test/Evaluate and implement new technology.
  • Proactively resolve tickets and investigate root cause, instigating change and improvements as necessary.
